i wrote about my site and its origins briefly on my home page, sooo i'll probably be reiterating a lot of things.

pretty much, halcalic was created as a means of self-expression! i love, love, love having creative outlets, whether it be through art, writing.. literally anything.

i used to make carrds, but i wanted more freedom in what i created 'cause i was a non-pro user. i didn't feel like spending money on pro either, buuut then i found out about neocities and began learning HTML & CSS!

and, honestly, i'm just a little sick of the constant need i feel to be in tune with social media.

i'm quite self-conscious of my social media use, more specifically the (excessive) time spent on platforms like tiktok and whatever. for me, the temporary "high" isn't rewarding whatsoever and i'd rather spend my time doing something that gives me a sense of accomplishment.

sorry for the brief tangent, but i'd say that was another essential motivator when it came to making halcalic!

but all in all, i'd say halcalic is a little "safe space" for me, so to speak! :3
