hello hello hello!
first blog entry... woohoo! if you told me, like, a year ago that i finally got shit done on my site, i probably wouldn't believe you.
anyway, it was a very busy day for me today... it was my friend's 18th birthday! i'm not necessarily a fan of big gatherings and whatnot, but she's one of my closest friends. i wouldn't miss something like this for the world.
she organised a picnic for all of us. here are a few pictures i took! feel free to expand the photos by clicking them.
it was so, so, so fun, but i still feel like i might explode from the amount of food i ate.
also, tell me why the strawberry glass i painted fucking shattered? i'm not kidding. (just in case the tooltip doesn't show, my friend and i recreated the strawberry glasses from NANA!)
i genuinely have no idea when it happened, but i'm assuming it shattered in my bag while i was on the way home. still, i'm kinda pissed. i wrapped it up and everything just so it wouldn't break, but that clearly didn't help!!
my friend said that "fate had it out for me," considering what happens in NANA... LMFAO. oh well.
since it's summer break, i've been trying to get back into my hobbies, reading being one of them.
i'm in the midst of reading two books for my english class! (giovanni's room by james baldwin and sunburn by chloe howarth.) they're the books i'm planning on studying for the essay we're expected to write next year!! i plan on exploring how themes of sexual orientation and denial were tackled for it.
the essay is just a comparative study of the novels we choose to analyse. i tried to pick books that had similar-ish? themes. a lovely lady who works in the bookshop i visited recommended that i pair giovanni's room with sunburn, so i'm trusting her judgement. they seem to cover relatively similar topics, just in different time periods, settings, and circumstances.
any recommendations on queer literature (and queer media in general) are very appreciated.... we're supposed to study two books of our own choice, but i wanna broaden my horizons and whatever, y'know?
i think that's all for now. i have so much to talk about but i don't want to blurt it all out at once. here's a song that's been stuck in my mind lately! take care, mwah.
